Sacramento

I’m off to Sacramento today.  Thankfully I’ll be home tomorrow night.

Want to see why I’m going?  Go buy some almonds, peel back the amazing “foil” top, eat them all up as fast as you can and go buy more so you can enjoy the experience of peeling off the end again and again ;-)

What’s that smell?

I have a confession…

I’m confessing that I am probably the text book version of an undomestic goddess.  I am far from the perfect housewife and have accepted that fact.  Thankfully my DH claims to love me despite this fault.  My latest excuse is that I travel 75% of the time and my hubby is on 3rd shift.  Meaning that even if I happened to be at home one evening and wanted to run the vacuum cleaner, Dave is sleeping.  When neither of us is working on a weekend, our time together is precious and the last thing we want to do is clean.  We typically pull on the jeans we wore the weekend before and leave the house.  I then spend the day feeling guilty that my house is a mess and stress over it, but in general this avoidance method works until someone wants to come over.  And in the South they don’t give you a week’s notice :-)

I enjoy having last minute company and you’ll notice that once I clean my house I try to have everyone over in a matter of days so they can see it pretty and I can enjoy my time with them before the mystery tornado tears through and messes it all up again.

For the past few years we have discussed having someone clean our house while I work full time but it’s been out of the budget…not to mention the fact that I couldn’t keep up on the clutter enough to make my house cleanable.  We finally broke down and decided that here in Memphis with our ridiculous schedule it would make sense to have someone come by.  And knowing that there will be someone here to clean every 2 weeks might keep the evil clutter tornado away.

My new lady came by for the first time today and she was cleaning away.  Dave walked out of our bedroom to the kitchen and whispered to me “What’s that smell?”  I gave him a confused look as I’m not cooking so nothing is burning… then he said “oh it’s the smell of clean.”  I smacked him then he told me he loved me.  Ahhh he sure knows the way to a girl’s heart.  Oh well, at least this is buying me enough time that we’ll be wearing clean jeans this weekend.

I love it here…

Last night Dave and I drove over to the historical square for dinner.  Unfortunately the restaurant we wanted was closed, but as we drove around I saw several clusters of people around the square.

square

I didn’t have my camera with me or I would have taken pictures.  But It was so neat, from young teenagers to old men, there were clusters of people that had brought along their guitars, banjos, fiddles and any other bluegrass instrument you can imagine.  They were just hanging out around the gazebo, on benches; on each corner of the square there was a different group just playing away.

Apparently this is a very common thing.  So much in fact that during the summer every Thursday and Friday evening is like this.  I’m constantly charmed by this area.

I love it here.

Play Date

Today my roomie from school came over for a visit.  It’s crazy how we ended up in the same city huh?pdarianne

Ariane just got engaged!  I should have got a pict of the beautiful rock, you can see a glimpse of it but it’s really beautiful.  She brought along her puppy Marco for a play date.pdmarco

He’s super sweet.  My little monsters on the other hand were extra ornery. pdplay3They were pretty poor hosts and ganged up on poor Marco.  Tank was bossy (vocal) and Buckeye…well let’s just say he wanted to emphasize that we were in his yard….ahhh the joy of how dogs determine pecking order.pdplay2

When Dave left this morning he told Buckeye that this was his house and to remember that he’s the top dog.  Apparently Buckeye listened a little too well.pdplay

When I wasn’t making him lay down or Ariane wasn’t holding Marco, Buckeye spent the majority of the time in the house where he wouldn’t be such a bully. He was really just trying to play and was so sad to be inside…Buckeye just gets a little over excited and it was a little much for Marco.pdbuckeye2

See that face?  He feels bad.

Tank was better with his brother inside.  He spent much of the evening coaxing Marco into the yard… pdtank

so he would have an excuse to run like the wind.pdtank2

All in all it was a fun evening and I was happy to have some time with my friend.pdarianne

I hope you have a beautiful weeekend!

The others…

Well they’re not near as cute as Bakerella’s, but for my first try I don’t think they turned out too bad.  And they are soooo yummy; I inisist that you try making your own today!  Or you come eat mine so I don’t gain 5000lbs from eating them all myself :-)
