Pimps, Witches and Snooki

We had our annual halloween party for the first time with the Canton group last night.

Under the eerie glow of red and purple I got some help from some friends to change the basement into a very spooky party scene.  I’m still having nightmares about the new spooky ghost guy we bought.  I couldn’t even take a picture of him….

Aside from a couple of slackers ;-) there were some great costumes.  We had a little she devil action

We were attacked by pirates and a had celebrity appearance from none other than Snooki & the Situation

And the two of us preggers girls stayed safe from the giant spiders.

Thanks everyone for a fun night.  Now can someone come get this ghost out of my house so I can sleep at night?

As always, more photos on Picasa.

O-H…

My Buckeye-loving husband turned 28 this year.  (We won’t talk about the fact that I did too (-:).  He grew up an Ohio State fan and is still one today.  So much so that even our dog’s name is Buckeye.  We got directv when we moved to Tennessee so that he would be sure to catch every game.  But despite how big of a fan he is he had never been to a game.  So for his birthday this year (on my actual birthday) I took him to the Ohio State v. Ohio University game.  One of our friends at work snagged us a couple of wonderful tickets on the 30 yard line for the early day game.

It was a beautiful later summer day and with kickoff at noon we headed down to Columbus bright and early.  We hit the “skull session” first at St John’s Arena to see the Best Damn Band in the Land.  They lived up to their name and got everyone fired up to cheer on our Buckeyes.

We made our way through campus for a bit then headed into the stadium for a hot dog and to enjoyed the sites.

Script Ohio is one of the neatest things any band does.  Don’t get me wrong, I was raised a Volunteer and watching the players run through the big T gets my blood pumping…but there’s something about script Ohio that sets it apart from other bands.

Before we knew it the Buckeyes were up 27-0 and I was feeling a little sorry for OU.  Just as the words came out of my mouth they slipped through the cracks and scored…oops.  So it wasn’t quite a shut out but it was a great game day and a ton of fun.

It’s a Girl!!!

We had our first ultrasound today.
Profile 2

I went in honestly not sure if we were going to find out the gender.  See Dave has said since before we were even dating that when he had a baby he would not want to know the gender before it was born.  So when we found I was pregnant I assumed we would not find out.  Honestly it really didn’t bother me.  I always thought it would drive me crazy and while I had days that I hoped he would change his mind, I planned on not knowing.  I told him the decision was up to him.  When I told friends it was up to Dave they proceeded to not ask if he was going to find out but if they were going to find out :-)  I told them I would put money on him changing his mind.  I wish I had, I’d be that much closer to my grey pair of Uggs right now!

So I waited in suspense today, cherishing our first site of a little hand with five tiny fingers…
Hand

then both hands
Hands

The technician said it’s very hard to get a picture of both hands and that we have a little show off. ;-)

Then a foot (there are 2 :-) ),

Foot

She curled up for a picture of her spine,

Curled up

and then we saw her little legs

Stretched legs

For the first few minutes of the ultrasound the technician pointed out the two little legs crossed at the ankles and I almost said “just like a little lady.”  But I waited until the tech asked the question “were you hoping to find out the gender today?”  Dave responded with a “yes.”  I would have done a little dance but held as still as I could with my super full bladder…

And then in a not-so-ladylike fashion she made it very clear

It's a Girl

And now I feel a little bad for destroying my little girl’s modesty at such an early stage in life.

Everything looks wonderful.  We’ll review the ultrasound in more detail at our next appointment but she was very cooperative and showed them everything they needed to see.  She looks like a wonderful healthy little girl growing right on schedule.  We can’t wait to meet her in March!!

Bugs and Milkshake Brawls

9 Things Dave learned last night

1)  Buying pretty things and Christmas shopping makes me happy.

2)  Letting 10,000 bugs in the house dampens that happiness.

3)  Pregnant wife speak for “Do you want some of the mac ‘n’ cheese? There’s plenty.” Really means “Go get some if you want it.”

4)  When his pregnant wife asks for something sweet to eat it doesn’t mean either of the following:

  • List off the things we had last week but don’t have now
  • Acknowledge we have the ingredients for a milkshake then sit down on the couch…. without having first brought her the milkshake.

5)  Killing moths with a flyswatter doesn’t make up for the lack of milkshake and leaves a mark that your now grumpy pregnant wife will make you scrub off the ceiling.

6)  Hugging and loving on your now very grumpy wife who is taking out her frustrations by cleaning the dirty kitchen doesn’t help your case, in fact it will make her irate because now she doesn’t have a milkshake, has a house full of dead bugs and can’t move to take her irritations out on the kitchen

7)  Taking out the trash is a step in the right direction.

8)  Taking out his irritation with the crazy pregnant lady on the blender will make it smoke.

9)  In the end making the milkshake calmly the first time would have prevented all of the above frustrations from ever existing and we would have been in bed an hour earlier.

Number 10 is mine

I was reminded that I have a wonderful husband who handled my first (?) pregnant tirade wonderfully.  Sure he didn’t make it any easier on himself but I didn’t either.  I learned that although I was fairly determined not to turn into a psycho pregnant woman, last night I failed miserably and on occasion it might be harder than I thought to always be rational.

I love you honey.  Thanks for loving and putting up with me. ;-)

Way back in August…

A long time ago, the first weekend in August, we made our way back to Memphis.  Yes we missed it already but it was mainly to celebrate this guy turning 30.

Little did he know, our surprise appearance at his surprise party could have put a little damper on his night.  You see, the timing was perfect because Dave and I were about to go crazy.  No, not from being up in Ohio, but from having  BIG secret.  If you know me you know I’m a terrible secret keeper, mainly because I’m a terrible liar so I’m amazed I lasted as long as I did.

Also if you know us personally you already know our secret because it’s almost October and I’m just now posting…story of this blog huh? ;-)

Whether you know or not, seeing everyone’s reactions is always fun.  If you don’t know you can guess from the following pictures…

I’d like to take a moment to point out the birthday boy’s reaction (see him on the far right?).  I think he had a list of expletives running through his head related to his wife’s reaction.

Again he’s wondering “why did they come visit me? Did they have to tell her this now?!”

He’s smiling in the above picture but wondering if he should jump in the pool before Megan (in pink) jump’s him.

He’s finally come to his senses and realized that Dave is the poor sucker and not him :-)

So that’s it, our first round of reactions to the Big News!  Oh I guess I should actually say the words huh?

I’m 16 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow!!!!!  Baby Parr will be joining us in this wonderful world sometime around March 11th.  Other reaction stories to come though none of the others were documented like this one.  I’ll have to get a picture of our parents with their news worthy gifts to share :-)

Until next time ;-)
